
Moving home can be a stressful event, but it doesn’t need to be! Staying organised can help you feel more in control and make the whole process run smoothly. We’ve put together a quick and concise moving home checklist to help you moving out and settle in with ease.
Moving Out
- Label boxes (It'll make it easier when you come to unpack)
- Consider taking out a life insurance policy (this may be required as a mortgage condition).
- Hire a removal company
- Record all utility readings (keep in a safe place, or take a photo of them on your phone)
- Keep your first night essentials (kettle, mugs, tea, coffee, phone, laptop charger, loo roll, temporary furniture, radio/ TV)
- Complete Post Office mail redirection form (2 weeks before)
Moving In
- Make a list of where everything is in your new home (stopcock, meters, thermostat, fuse box)
- Record all utility readings (keep in a safe place, or take a photo of them on your phone)
- Keep all your important documents in a safe place where you can easily find them (passport, mortgage paperwork etc)
- Send an email to family and friends letting them know your new address
